Dow Lifts VAM Force Majeure

Dow Chemical says it is ending its vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) force majeure at Texas City, TX. The company says it made the declaration after an “unforeseen critical equipment failure” delayed the restart of the plant following shutdown in preparation for Hurricane Ike last month. The 727-million lbs/year VAM unit was not damaged when the storm hit.
