The company says it made the declaration after an “unforeseen critical equipment failure” delayed the restart of the plant following shutdown in preparation for Hurricane Ike last month. The 727-million lbs/year VAM unit was not damaged when the storm hit. A planned maintenance turnaround had been scheduled for the unit, and the site was shut down one day ahead of schedule due to the storm, Dow tells...
