Chinese Firm to License DuPont's VAM Technology

DuPont Packaging and Industrial Polymers says its vinyl acetate monomer (VAM) technology has been selected by Jiangsu Sopo Group (Sopo; Shanghai) for a 330,000-m.t./year plant at Zhenjiang, China. The planned VAM facility will be integrated with other Sopo petrochemical plants at Zhenjiang. The site includes a methanol plant and a 1.2-million m.t./year acetic acid plant that will supply feedstock to the VAM unit.
