Celanese to Double Capacity at Chinese Emulsions Plant

Celanese says it plans to double capacity of the company’s vinyl acetate/ethylene (VAE) complex at Nanjing, China to about 120,000 m.t./year by the first half of 2011. The plant will manufacture vinyl-based homo- and copolymers, pure acrylic and VAE emulsions, the company says. “This expansion anticipates continuing strong growth for high performing VAE emulsions in the region,” says Doug Madden, corporate executive v.p. at Celanese.
