Styrene Prices Drop, But Markets May Tighten this Fall

Global styrene prices slumped in late July as production outpaced stagnating demand, especially in North America. But market watchers say the current dip is likely to represent the low for the next few months. Several maintenance outages are planned for western Europe between August and October. The outages, combined with high demand from eastern Europe, are expected to tighten styrene markets as summer ends, producers say. U.S. Gulf Coast contract prices have not been settled for July, but both buyers and sellers seem to be in agreement on a decrease of 3 cts/lb...
