Deadly Blast Rocks Romanian Plant

An explosion ripped through the Ramnicu Valcea, Romania petrochemical complex of Oltchim (Ramnicu Valcea) on August 14, killing one worker and injuring seven others. At least two of the injured were in critical condition at CW press time, local reports say. The blast occurred at a propylene oxide plant, but no major structural damage was sustained, Oltchim says. The cause of the accident is not yet known. Oltchim is owned 95% by the Romanian government and the rest is traded on the Bucharest stock exchange. The state is planning to cut its stake in Oltchim to 53%...
