Technical problems lead to shutdown of Al Waha's propylene and PP complex in Saudi Arabia

Sahara Petrochemicals (Riyadh) announced on Sunday that its subsidiary Al Waha Petrochemicals experienced a technical fault in its utilities unit, which led to an interruption of production in all the company’s operating units. Al Waha, a joint venture in which Sahara holds 75% and LyondellBasell 25%, operates propane dehydrogenation (PDH) and polypropylene (PP) plants at Al Jubail. The company says it expects to fix the problem within “a period not exceeding 10 days starting today.” Al Waha expects the impact on profitability to be close to 8...
