Markets :: Basic Chemicals :: Petrochemicals :: Propylene Sabic Takes Geleen Cracker Offline Due to Technical Hitch6:52 AM MST | January 28, 2011 | Ian Young Sabic says it has taken its No. 4 naphtha cracker at Geleen, the Netherlands offstream due to a technical fault. The plant accounts for 660,000 m.t. of Sabic's 1.3-million m.t./year ethylene capacity at Geleen. Sabic says it is investigating the difficulty and hopes to restart production at the end of next week. Separately, Dow Chemical was due to take its No. 2 cracker at Terneuzen, the Netherlands offline by the end of this week for planned maintenance.
