Equistar Chemicals to Add Feedstock Flexibility at TX Olefins Plant

Equistar Chemicals, a subsidiary of LyondellBasell, says its olefins plant at Corpus Christi, TX will transition to a feedstock slate of nearly all natural gas liquids (NGLs) by the first quarter of 2010. Equistar will also idle the site’s butadiene extraction and hydrodealkylation units as part of this transition, LyondellBasell says. The Corpus Christi plant has a nameplate capacity of 1.7 billion lbs/year of ethylene and 700 million lbs/year of propylene.
