Dow's Board Authorizes Freeport Propylene Investment

Dow Chemical says its Board of Directors has authorized capital to finalize detailed engineering and purchase long lead-time equipment for a new, world-scale propane dehydrogenation unit at the company’s Freeport, TX facility. Basic engineering has commenced for the 750,000 m.t./year polymer-grade propylene plant, which is on track for startup in 2015. Dow did not disclose the expected cost of the facility.
