Alon Propylene Unit Down After Explosion

An explosion at Alon USA Energy’s (Dallas) Big Spring, TX refinery destroyed Alon’s propylene recovery unit and damaged the alkylation and gas concentration units. Four employees were injured in the explosion. Preliminary assessments of the damage indicate that operations could resume in two months, the company says. However, the explosion’s affect on the marketplace was “more of a perceived hit than a serious blow to capacity,” market watchers...
