Markets :: Basic Chemicals :: Petrochemicals :: Para-xylene UOP Selected for PetroChina Project7:58 AM MDT | July 22, 2008 | Deepti Ramesh UOP says it has been selected by PetroChina Sichuan Petrochemical, a subsidiary of PetroChina, to supply technology, basic engineering services, and equipment for an integrated refining and petrochemical complex near Chengdu, China. The petchem portion of the complex will produce 600,000 m.t./year of para-xylene using the UOP Parex process, UOP says. The plant will also produce more than 350,000 m.t./year of benzene. Demand for p-xylene in China is expected to grow at an annual rate of 11% during the next 10 years, driven largely by the downstream market, UOP...
