Solvay to Close Italian Chloromethane Plant

Solvay says it will close a 45,000-m.t./year chloromethane (methyl chloride) plant at Bussi, Italy by the end of this month. Solvay did not detail job cuts, but says it is part of a larger restructuring program at Bussi that will result in a total of 200 job cuts. The company also did not disclose the costs associated with shutting the plant.
