Markets :: Basic Chemicals :: Petrochemicals :: MTBE Sibur Sells MTBE Unit to Roel Corp.5:44 AM MST | February 3, 2010 | Natasha Alperowicz Sibur (Moscow) says it has agreed to sell its Kauchuk JSC (Volzhskii, Russia) unit to Roel Corp. (Moscow). The deal forms part of Sibur's exit from non-core businesses, the company says. Kauchuk mainly makes methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE) at its Volzhskii based plant. Last year it produced 135,000 m.t./year of MTBE. Sibur says that it will remain the principal supplier of raw materials to Kauchuk, under the agreement. The deal is expected to be close within the next 3-4 months. The buyer of Kauchuk plans to develop the production site into a biochemical...
