Markets :: Basic Chemicals :: Petrochemicals :: Mixed-xylenes Chiyoda awarded EPC contract for Taiyo Oil aromatics expansion in Japan12:40 PM MST | January 29, 2013 | Francinia Protti-Alvarez Chiyoda has been awarded an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract by Taiyo Oil (Tokyo) to develop a 10,000-bbl/day transalkylation unit, Chiyoda announced today. Construction is scheduled to start in September, with operations beginning in November 2014. The transalkylation unit will be based on UOP technology. The project is worth about ¥6 billion ($66 million) and will be developed at Taiyo's aromatics--benzene, toluene, and xylenes--extraction unit at the company's Shikoku site at Imabari, Japan.
