Petronas methanol plant hit by disruption in production due to feedstock shortage

Petronas Chemicals says its second methanol plant based at Labuan, Malaysia, has been hit by production disruption due to feedstock shortages. The company says it is working closely with its supplier to secure additional gas feedstock. The supplier is currently conducting offshore technical work at the upstream facilities. “Due to unforeseeable circumstances, the shutdown period to complete the project has to be extended, which resulted in the feedstock supply to [Petronas] methanol plant 2 being disrupted,” Petronas says.
