Separately, the company has also announced that it plans to move one of its idle methanol plants in Chile, to Geismar, LA. The Motunui plant is expected to begin production in mid-2012 and will add up to 650,000 m.t./year of incremental capacity. Methanex has signed a 10-year agreement with Todd Energy (Wellington, New Zealand) to supply natural gas for up to half of the 1.5 million m.t./year capacity at the Motunui site.
