Methanex and Chesapeake Energy sign long-term gas supply agreement for Louisiana project

Methanex and Chesapeake Energy (Oklahoma City) say they have executed a 10-year agreement to supply all of the natural gas required for Methanex's previously announced 1-million m.t./year methanol plant at Geismar, LA. Commencement of natural gas deliveries will coincide with the start-up of the plant, which is expected by the end of 2014. Methanex is relocating its idled methanol plant at Cabo Negro, Chile, to Geismar.
