Celanese Wins Methanol Supply Suit

Celanese says that a jury has ruled in its favor in litigation filed by Southern Chemical relating to the terms of a multiyear methanol supply contract for Celanese’s U.S.- and Mexico-based operations. The jury determined that the contract—under which Celanese has received about 800,000 m.t./year of methanol from Southern Chemical and has paid the company about $130 million each year—should continue until its expiration and found that Celanese did not violate the terms of the contract.
