The company had previously announced it was shutting methanol production but kept the plant running following an agreement to supply methanol to Methanex for the first three months of this year. Separately, Celanese says it has formed an alliance with Accsys Technologies and its subsidiary Titan Wood under which Celanese will become exclusive supplier of acetyl products to Titan Wood’s technology licensees for use in wood acetylation.
