Bayer Lifts MDI Force Majeure in Europe

Bayer MaterialScience (BMS) has lifted its force majeure on methylene-di-para-phenylene isocyanate (MDI) in Africa, Europe, and the Mideast from its Krefeld-Uerdingen, Germany site. BMS says the carbon monoxide (CO) plant at Uerdingen is operating at full capacity, allowing the MDI and polycarbonate plants at the site to resume normal production. The company declared force majeure because CO production constraints forced the MDI and PC plants to run below capacity since mid-November (CW, Dec. 13, 2006, p. 31).
