Methanex to relocate another methanol plant from Chile to Geismar

Methanex says it has reached a final investment decision to proceed with the relocation of a second 1-million m.t./year methanol plant from its Cabo Negro, Chile site to Geismar, LA. The plant is expected to be operational by early 2016, and will involve an estimated total cost of about $550 million. Methanex is in the process of relocating the first 1-million m.t./year methanol plant from Cabo Negro to Geismar, and that plant is expected to start up by the end of 2014.
