Ube and HighChem Technologies Selected by Chinese Firm

Ube Industries and HighChem (Tokyo) say they will license their technologies to Qianxixian Qianxi Coal Chemical Investment (Guizhou province, China) for transforming synthesis gas (syngas) derived from coal gasification into polyester feedstock. The license covers the process for manufacturing dimethyl oxalate (DMO) and the process for manufacturing ethylene glycol, which is derived through the reduction of DMO, Ube says.
