U.S. Firm Seeks U.K. Government Funds for Takeover of Dow EO-EG Plant

Third Coast Chemicals (Pearland, TX) is set to take control of Dow Chemical's ethylene oxide (EO) and ethylene glycol (EG) plant at Wilton, U.K. with the help of the U.K. government, which is trying to revitalize the country's beleagured chemical industry, reports say. Dow announced earlier this year its intention to close the complex, which has capacity for 320,000 m.t./year of EO, by January 2010, having failed to secure a buyer for the operation.
