Shell Takes Singapore Ethylene Plant Offline Due to 'Operational Issues'

Shell Chemicals has confirmed that its 800,000 m.t./year ethylene plant on Pulau Bukom, Singapore, has been taken offline due to "operational issues" and the company has declared force majeure on some of its chemicals contracts. "This [is] because the ethylene cracker unit on Pulau Bukom manufacturing site was facing operational issues and this has affected our ability to supply product to some of our customers," a Shell spokesman says.
