Dow Chemical to Cut Gulf Coast Ethylene Derivative Production by 30%

Dow will shut an ethylene plant and ethylene oxide/ethylene glycol production unit in Hahnville, LA (Taft) and an ethylene dichloride and vinyl chloride monomer facility in Plaquemine, LA. Dow says it expects to eliminate its purchases of ethylene from the merchant market, roughly 3 billion lbs/year, due to the U.S. closures....
