Markets :: Basic Chemicals :: Petrochemicals :: Ethylene glycol Sabic to Shut Down EG Plant for 10 Weeks for Maintenance, Repairs8:01 AM MDT | August 8, 2012 | Natasha Alperowicz Sabic said today that it intends to shut down a 700,000-m.t./year ethylene glycol (EG) plant operated by its Sharq Eastern Petrochemical joint venture at Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. The facility will be shut down for maintenance and repairs for about 10 weeks, starting at the beginning of September 2012. The shutdown will not affect the company's customers and will not have any major impact on Sabic, the company says. Sharq is a 50-50 jv with a group of Japanese producers led by Mitsubishi Corp.
