U.S. Petchem Output Climbs

First-quarter U.S. petrochemical production gained 4% from the year-ago period, to 48.5 billion lbs, says the National Petrochemical and Refiners Association (NPRA; Washington). Production of the 15 petchems surveyed and reported by the NPRA include olefins, aromatics, as well as acrylonitrile, cumene, ethylene dichloride (EDC), ethylene oxide (EO), ethylene glycol (EG), para-xylene, and styrene.
