Westlake Plans Projects to Boost Ethylene Capacity

Westlake Chemical says it is planning a series of expansions to boost ethylene capacity in 2012 and 2014 to better integrate the company’s ethylene requirements. Beginning in the second half of 2012, Westlake plans to increase capacity at one of its ethylene plants at Lake Charles, LA, boosting capacity by 230 million- 240 million lbs/year. A second expansion will take place in 2014 at a neighboring ethylene unit at Lake Charles, adding about 250 million lbs/year.
