Total Confirms Methanol-to-Olefins Process; Begins Discussions with Potential Partners

Total Petrochemicals says it has successfully started up a methanol-to-olefins (MTO) demonstration plant at its research center at Feluy, Belgium. The company has been producing monomers at the facility for a few weeks and has already produced industrial quality polypropylene (PP) using propylene from the demonstration facility, says Eric Duchesne, head of the MTO project.
