Petro Rabigh suspends cracker operation following water leak

Petro Rabigh (Rabigh, Saudi Arabia) says that on 16 October there was a leak in water pipes connecting with the Rabigh-based ethane cracker, which has led to the suspension of the cracker's production as a precautionary measure. Petro Rabigh, a joint venture between Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemical, is currently repairing the pipes and expects operations to resume within a few days. Petro Rabigh estimates the financial impact to be about 81 million Saudi riyals ($21.6 million), which will be recorded in the fourth-quarter results...
