PTT Chemical Readies Cracker Start-up; Forecasts 30% Revenue Growth

PTT Chemical (Bangkok) says it will start-up its 1 million m.t./year ethylene plant at Map Ta Phut, Thailand in early 2010. Some of the ethane feedstock will initially be diverted from an existing Olefins 1 cracker, which will undergo maintenace. The switch in feedstock is necessary following a decision by the Thai government to suspend 65 projects at Map Ta Phut, due to their owners' failure to conduct health impact assessments.
