Lukoil suspends production at Russia complex because of ethylene plant fire

A fire at Lukoil's (Moscow) Stavrolen petrochemical complex at Budyonnovsk, Russia, has resulted in the suspension of production at the facility, Lukoil has announced. The fire broke out at the gas separation area of the site's ethylene plant at about noon local time on 26 February. The fire has since been contained, Lukoil says. The Budyonnovsk complex has capacity to produce 350,000 m.t./year of ethylene as well as 300,000 m.t./year of high-density polyethylene, according to IHS Chemical data.
