Ineos to close plants at Grangemouth, US shale gas will help profitability

Ineos says it will be closing a number of old manufacturing assets at Grangemouth, UK., which will lead to some job cuts but not as many as 200, which Unite union feared. A spokesman for Ineos says that a benzene plant will be closed next year to be followed by the closure of an old naphtha cracker in 2015. Ineos announced plans to close the small cracker some years ago. A butadiene plant will also be shuttered in 2015, according to UK press reports.
