Ineos advancing plans to import US shale gas to UK, may hike cracker capacity

Ineos is advancing plans to import shale gas from the United States to its Grangemouth, UK, site, the Sunday Herald today reports. The company is in talks with the government on the plan, which would safeguard 100 jobs at the site and a £1-billion ($1.5 billion) revenue stream, the newspaper says. Ineos has been lobbying government ministers to provide guarantees that would underwrite a scheme to build storage facilities for liquefied gas and modify the dockside at the site.
