Formosa Updates Plans for U.S. Expansion

Formosa Plastics says it will invest about $1.7 billion at its Point Comfort, TX site to build a new, grassroots 800,000-m.t./year ethane cracker, an associated 600,000-m.t./year propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit and a new 300,000-m.t./year low-density polyethylene (LDPE) resin plant. Start-up is expected in 2016, Formosa says.
