Formosa Plastics Plans Maintenance at its Olefins 2 Complex

Formosa Plastics' unit, Formosa Petrochemical Corp. plans to close its olefins 2 complex at Mailiao, Taiwan on October 5 for a scheduled maintenance. The 1 million m.t./year cracker will be offline for about six weeks, according to the company's spokesperson. The company's smaller cracker, olefins 1, designed for 700,000 m.t./year of ethylene, is still offline following a fire in July and is not expected to be back in production until end of this month.
