Explosion at Total Cracker in France Kills Two and Injures Six; Arkema's Operations Not Affected

An explosion yesterday at Total Petrochemicals' steam cracker at Carling, France killed two people and injured six. Two of the injured remain hospitalized. Total says the accident happened as the cracker was being restarted after it had been taken offline following a heavy storm on June 13. A steam generator exploded during the operation to restart the plant. The cause of the accident is being investigated.
