EPA issues GHG construction permit for Dow's Freeport cracker

EPA says it has issued a final greenhouse gas (GHG) Prevention of Significant Deterioration construction permit to Dow Chemical for Dow's previously announced steam cracker at Freeport, TX. The permit will allow construction, after 30 days, of a facility that will process ethane and propane, EPA says. The facility will be built at Dow’s Freeport complex and will include eight steam cracking furnaces. The plant, when finished, will produce 1.5 million m.t./year of ethylene, as well as products such as propylene, butadiene, and hydrogen. Dow filed the permit...
