Chinese Firm Awarded Patent for Low-Cost Olefins Technology

Keyuan Petrochemicals (Ningbo, China) says it has received approval from the Chinese authorities for a patent related to the company's proprietary Multiple Ethylene Propylene (MEP) production process. MEP technology improves manufacturing efficiency and flexibility, Keyuan says. The patent covers technology used in the production of ethylene and propylene. It allows the company to use lower-grade feedstock, such as heavy oil, instead of naphtha.
