Ube to Merge Caprolactam and Nylon Subsidiaries in Thailand

Ube Industries says it will merge its Thai Caprolactam (Bangkok) and Ube Nylon Thailand (Bangkok) subsidiaries effective February 1, 2010, and the merged company will be named Ube Chemicals Asia (Bangkok). Ube holds 91% stake in Thai Caprolactam and Marubeni (Tokyo) holds 7%, and the remaining 2% stake is held by others. Thai Caprolactam, which manufactures and sells caprolactam and ammonium sulfate, had sales of baht13 million ($393,000) in 2008.
