U.S. Olefins Production Rises Slightly in Third Quarter

U.S. olefins production rose in the third-quarter of 2009 sequentially by an average of about 3%, according to the latest production statistics from the National Petrochemical Refiners Association (NPRA; Washington). Ethylene production rose 2.3% from the second-quarter to 13.0 billion lbs, while propylene climbed about 5.7% to 7.8 billion lbs. Butadiene rose a mere 1.1% to 772 million lbs, NPRA says.
