Butadiene Supply Constraints Fuel Spot Price Surge

Butadiene contracts settled at a record high of 61 cts/lb for February contracts, and spot prices continue to firm, adding 15 cts/lb to reach 67-69 cts/lb in recent weeks, sources say. Planned and unplanned outages have led to short-term butadiene shortages, market sources say.
