Invista and LanzaTech to Produce Butadiene from Waste Carbon Monoxide

Invista says it has signed a joint development agreement with Chicago-based LanzaTech for the production of butadiene using LanzaTech’s gas fermentation technology. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed. LanzaTech’s microorganism can produce ethanol and chemicals from carbon monoxide, unlike the sugar and starch consumed by most fermentation platforms. LanzaTech and Invista, a major consumer of butadiene for nylon 6,6 production, will initially focus on converting 2,3-butanediol produced by LanzaTech’s process...
