Rennovia ships 100% biobased nylon-6,6

Rennovia (Menlo Park, CA) has produced, and shipped to a prospective partner, samples of what it believes to be the first 100% biobased nylon-6,6. The product is made from Rennovia's renewable adipic acid  and hexamethylenediamine (HMD), the company says. Over 6 billion lbs/year of nylon-6,6 is currently produced from petroleum-derived adipic acid and HMD, representing a global market of more than $6 billion, the company says.
