Verdezyne to supply biobased adipic acid for nylon-6,6 production

Verdezyne (Carlsbad, CA), a renewables start-up backed by BP and DSM, says it will supply biobased adipic acid to Universal Fiber Systems (Bristol, VA), a carpet and apparel yarns maker, for production of nylon-6,6.  Financial terms and contracted volumes were not disclosed. “Within our strategic global markets, great emphasis has been placed on sustainability,” says Marc Ammen, CEO of Universal Fiber Systems. “Some companies focus on a cradle-to-cradle model, while others seek to reduce environmental impact and avoid petroleum depletion...
