Sabic to Form Acrylonitrile and Sodium Cyanide JV with Asahi Kasei and Mitsubishi

Sabic has agreed to form a joint venture with Asahi Kasei and Mitsubishi Corp. that will build and operate plants producing acrylonitrile and sodium cyanide in Saudi Arabia. The jv, Saudi Japanese Acrylonitrile Co., will establish plants with capacity for 200,000 m.t./year of acrylo and 40,000 m.t./year of sodium cyanide. Sabic will own 50% of the jv, and Asahi and Mitsubishi will jointly own the rest. The new company will take the name Shrouq in Arabic.
