Markets :: Basic Chemicals :: Petrochemicals :: Acetone Honeywell Buys Sunoco’s PA Phenol and Acetone Facility11:31 AM MDT | May 31, 2011 | —LINDSEY BEWLEY Sunoco says it will sell its phenol and acetone plant at Frankford, PA to Honeywell for $85 million. The plant has the capacity to produce about 685 million lbs/year of acetone and about 1.1 billion lbs/year of phenol. The deal is expected to close in the third quarter. Sunoco says the sale is part of its effort to focus on its downstream refining and logistics businesses. Sunoco also operates a 650-million lbs/year phenol plant at Haverhill, OH that is not part of the sale. Honeyweill uses phenol to make nylon intermediate caprolactam its Hopewell, VA facility...
