Acetone prices in Europe and US rise on tight supply, weak phenol

Unusually weak demand for coproduct phenol has tightened acetone supply in the United States and Europe, sending prices upward, say analysts at IHS Chemical. Acetone prices for small and medium buyers in the United States climbed from 66–69 cts/lb, delivered, in the second half of December to 75–83 cts/lb in the first half of February, an increase of 17%, according to the IHS Chemical Acetone Mid-Month Market Report (AMMR) issued on 15 February.
