Markets :: Basic Chemicals :: Petrochemicals :: Acetic acid Fluor Wins $1-Billion Sipchem Contract1:58 PM MDT | August 8, 2007 | Chemical Week Editorial Staff Fluor says it has been awarded a $1-billion contract to provide engineering, procurement, construction management, and pre-commissioning services to Saudi International Petrochemical’s (Sipchem; Al Khobar) planned acetyls complex at Al Jubail, Saudi Arabia. Construction began this month, and the plant is due for completion in December 2008. The facility will have 460,000 m.t./year of acetic acid capacity and 300,000 m.t./year of vinyl acetate monomer capacity.
