Tronox loss widens as selling prices fall

Tronox today reported a third-quarter net loss of $49 million, or 43 cts/share, compared with a loss of $3 million in the year-ago quarter. The company’s adjusted net loss totaled $55 million, compared with an adjusted net profit of $24 million during the year-ago quarter. The adjusted net loss totaled 48 cts/share, far exceeding analysts’ consensus estimate for a loss of 13 cts/share, as reported by Thomson Reuters (New York). Quarterly revenues were up 1% year-on-year (YOY), to $491 million. Pigments segment revenues rose 7% YOY, to $300 million...
